Try to look around you. If you will notice, when you want to have a lunch with you family, you will go in a fast-restaurant. Buy some gifts for your friends on a boutique . And stop in a gasoline station to fuel your engine. Notice that those places you ar…e going to are franchise. And we must admit that franchise business became a part of your daily living now. This shows that franchising is very much intertwined with Filipino life, which was unnoticeable 15 to 20 years ago.

Filipino today finds franchising as one great tool in alleviating poverty. No doubt about it! Even businessmen admit that growing with franchising helps the economic status in our country. Franchise Philippines officially came in 1910. Even until 1990s, franchising was seen as an exclusive club for big business or multinational corporations and public utility. And so, franchising hardly boost the Philippine economy that time. Until the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) made a move to promote the franchising in the Philippines, to somehow help in the development of the economy. Filipinos finally wake up from sleeping pattern in business industry. The franchising opens a new opportunity for new and small entrepreneurs to grow and to expand their business.

Years had past, the growing franchising really helps the Philippine economy. Unexpected growth of franchising contributes 5 percent to the country’s GDP as it creates thousands of business and millions of jobs. Several franchise concepts in food, retail and service are available. This shows that franchise Philippines inspires more entrepreneur to explore their abilities and eventually expand their business.

No doubt that franchising is now a key to alleviate poverty in the country. If only most Filipinos knew how franchising helps not only us, as entrepreneur, but also the country’s economic status.

A Franchise is the legal agreement between two parties known as the franchisor and the franchisee, in which the franchisor gives or grants the franchisee the rights to distribute or render the goods and services of a certain brand/name they own in a distinct location over a specified period of time. Upon doing so, the Franchisee is to pay the fees set by the franchisor for him to be a part of their brand/trademark/business venture. One should note that upon entering a franchise agreement, you are only paying up for the rights to open up a business under their name, you’re not really buying the business itself and that can only do so for a limited amount of time, depending on your contract.
By the fact that you’re reading this already means that you are already interested in franchising, whether you already have a particular brand in mind or still undecided, here are some tips that can help you in choosing the right franchise for you:
Know your interests, likes, and things that you enjoy
90% of successful businesses have owners in which are happy and enjoying the time they are spending on their franchise, being happy with what you’re doing can really boost your performance as you will subconsciously exert more effort and give extra time to your business. If you’re interested with the particular product or service that you will franchise, you will certainly be more enthusiastic in researching and developing strategies that will improve your franchises performance. Take note that most people love to deal with enthusiastic suppliers. To make things short, people who makes their work as part of their lives rather than just a necessity in order to gain money are more likely to succeed.
Ask, ask, and ask some more
Bear in mind that you’re entering a deal that could change your life as you know it, so it is best that you conduct a research before signing up their contract. Ask other franchisees about their experience of transacting with the said franchisor, ask bank managers if they fin d your franchisor credible enough because most banks are happy to give out loans to trusted franchisors whom meet their requirements and this might be helpful in times that your franchise is in need.
Read and take your time before signing
Always remember that once you’ve signed the contract, you already agreed to the terms they proposed so be responsible enough to read and fully understand what you are to sign for before doing so. You must also be aware that agreements by words won’t be counted as legal, only those written on the contract in which both parties have signed are the only ones legitimate and official. Note that understanding the contract fully will give you a greater control over your legal advisors and franchisor.

Seek Professional Advice
If you are still reluctant on your agreement, it is also a good move to seek professional advice. Find and ask tips from Franchise Guru’s, present the franchisor’s business plan with your trusted Accountant, Talk to your lawyer and discuss the contract, franchise agreement and other portions of the deal. Discuss possible exit strategies with your lawyer if ever things go wrong.
Do research work, don’t stick to a single option
There are a lot of Franchises out there, be patient enough to do your research in order to find out which one would be suited for you, and which one would turn out to be most productive. Having multiple options can expand your knowledge and increase success rate.
Consider all factors that will affect the performance of your franchise
Again, conduct a research about factors that will surely affect the performance of your franchise such as Location, Target Market, Demand, Lifestyle, Average Earnings and Age. Note that it is best to pay for the best location if ever you found one rather than have your business set up on a cheaper but lesser chances of doing good business.
Be aware of the risks involved
No business can be considered without risk, so no matter how convincing your franchisors are, never be tempted to seal the transaction immediately. Every businessman would do everything to seal the deal, always be enthusiastic to ask everything and especially those which are not mentioned in the contract.
Having said all these it is now time to check whether you are personally ready to enter the franchising business:
Are you ready to shoulder the responsibilities of starting and maintaining your own business?
Have you carefully read and fully understood all documentations related to the transaction?
Can you afford the franchise?
Will you enjoy working with the said franchise since it has a time span commitment of 5-10 years?
Do your family approve your plan of entering the franchise venture? Will they support you?
Are you happy working with your staff?
Will you be able to communicate in a harmonious manner with your franchisor?
Will you be able to provide what your customer demands?
Are you ready to devote your time to a hands-on business?
Will you be able to manage the stress and difficulties of running a business?
Are you ready to embark on an endless pursuit of further improvements for your business?

Meanwhile here are some of the things that you ought to consider before opening up your franchise:
Look for the best site before committing yourself to the business.
If ever you cannot find what you are looking for, wait for the best location possible.
Conduct a feasibility study on your selected area. Determine factors such as size of population, age, lifestyle, and average earnings of your target market.
Choose the better location over cheaper rent.
Negotiate the best deal possible.
Checklist of things that you ought to have done before signing up the contract:
Consult a lawyer, franchise guru, and a trusted accountant
Investigate the franchisor
Ask the bank if they accredit the franchise brand/name
Obtain and understand the disclosure documents

So, you want to try your luck in business but you’re looking for one that involves the lowest risks possible? If you are, your best bet would be a franchise Philippines business. With such a business model, you (the operator/ business owner) can maximize your business’ profit potential in a shorter time as compared to other more traditional business models. And the great thing is that your success is almost always guaranteed, if you just follow your franchisor’s business system to the letter. Now, isn’t that great?

Franchising has recently been named as one of the most outstanding and most successful business models in the country today. It has become so popular that we now have more than a thousand franchise Philippines brands (from just about 50 franchising brands during the 1980s). No wonder, the Philippines is now being dubbed as the “franchising hub of Asia”.

Inspired with all the success stories you’ve been hearing about franchising and ready to start your own franchise business? Hey, don’t just jump right in! No matter how great it looks, you need to know what you’re getting yourself into before taking the plunge. To gauge your readiness, ask yourself these questions:

Do you really know what franchising is all about?

Do you know how to choose the best franchise Philippines business for you?

Do you know how you can maximize your potentials for success in this business?

For those who need a little more background on what franchising is all about, here’s some information that you may find useful.

Franchise Philippines Defined
Franchising is defined as a business model wherein the owner of the business (franchisor) gives the independent operator (franchisee) the right to distribute his products, apply his business techniques and use his brand and/or trademark in the conduct of the business. You, as the franchisee, will be provided the exact system as well as the proven formula to run your business with minimal risks. As such, you can stop worrying about protecting your investments and instead, concentrate on making your business a success.

So, what’s in it for the franchisor? What does he or she stand to gain in the process? Well, for sharing with you his proven business formula, you will be giving the franchisor a fixed franchise fee plus a portion of your gross income (royalty fee, advertising fee, etc.). Indeed, it’s a win-win situation for all parties concerned.

Choosing the Perfect Fit
While running a franchise Philippines business is an almost guaranteed success, you still need to do your research prior to buying one. Here are some tips on how to do it right.

Decide which franchise opportunity is right for you. Since you’ll be investing your hard-earned money in buying and operating a franchise business, you need to make sure that you will continue to sustain your interest in your business. Don’t worry, with the endless variety of franchise businesses available, there will surely be one that suits you!

Identify your chosen brand. The brand your chosen franchise carries can help you get an early lead over your competitors. So choose wisely. Your success may largely depend on it.

Consider the success rate. One great yet simple indicator that can help you determine whether your chosen franchise business has a well established business system is the number of its franchise outlets. If you observe that the number of outlets is significantly increasing, it means that business is good and it’s most probably worth investing in the business.

Determine if there is available support. One good thing about franchise agreements is that the franchisor offers support and guidance to each of its individual franchises before and during operation as part of the package. Quality control, continuous research and development, and trainings are also included.

Check the legitimacy of the franchise. Be vigilant. Make sure that you’re not dealing with some “fly-by-night” operations. So, visit the office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) nearest you and see if your chosen franchise is duly registered. You may also ask if the franchise is affiliated with any existing legitimate franchise groups such as the Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI), Filipino International Franchise Association or the Philippine Franchise Association. Know everything there is about your chosen franchisor. Remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Financial freedom is just a step away if you’re operating your own franchise Philippines business. So, are you ready to claim your piece of the profits to be made in franchising? You better be!
