The Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) recently conferred its annual franchise awards to some of its outstanding members during ceremonies held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City.

Among the major winners were Max’s Fried Chicken, Dermaline, Folded and Hung, Greenwich, Julie’s Bakeshop, Philippine Seven Corp., Reyes Haricutters, Seaoil, and Waffle Time. Julie’s Bakeshop made it to the “Hall of Fame” for having won three consecutive “Best Local Franchise” for the Philippines Awards since 2005.

The keynote speaker, Trade Secretary Peter Favila, emphasized the importance of small and medium enterprises in growing the Philippine economy, saying that they form the backbone of sustainable development.

“We must all work together in propping up the local SME’s because they represent a significant chunk of our local economy. Through the initiatives of the PFA and with the continued guidance and support of the Department of Trade and Industry and the government, we can achieve sustained growth together,” he said
